Epworth-by-the-Sea’s annual January Adventure was the site of back-to-back speaking engagements by Marcus Borg and a performance of Phos Hilaron bridging the two appearances. On Saturday evening, January 17, 2009, Phos Hilaron played to a packed house of enthusiastic spiritual pilgrims who flock to make this pilgrimage each winter on St. Simon’s Island, GA. Held in the Strickland Auditorium on the Epworth campus, Phos Hilaron developed its “sea legs” marking a final performance of Phos Hilaron in the current Advent/Christmas/Epiphany season. As the production concluded to the sounds of Free Planet Radio, the audience leapt to their feet in standing ovation to embrace the phos hilaron (gladdening light) of the season.

A January Adventure in Emerging Christianity represents spiritual maturity in a time of Christian conflict and change. More information at www.januaryadventure.org.
