Lovefest 2011 Schedule and Registration
Feed the soul, savor the beauty and experience The Great Commandment through the divine light of Lovefest.
- Lovefest is a weekend symposium hosted by GladdeningLight February 4-6, 2011 at the Winter Park Civic Center in Winter Park, Florida
- Billed as “An Aesthetic Symposium of Faith,” Lovefest will celebrate the divine spark universal in transcendent creativity
- Marcus Borg, Lovefest’s featured speaker, is a renowned author and theologian (Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time and The Heart of Christianity) making his first Orlando area appearance
- Four practicing artists will support Marcus Borg’s vision of The Great Commandment’s transformative power (“…loving the Lord thy God with all thy heart…” from Matthew 22:37), each exhibiting and speaking about their own creative journeys and reflecting on sacred influences, mentors and inspiration
Lovefest 2011 schedule (subject to change):
- Friday evening, February 4th at 7:00 p.m. An opening lecture from Marcus Borg, renowned theological author (Reading the Bible Again for the First Time, Jesus: Uncovering the Life, Teachings and Relevance of a Religious Revolutionary) and retired Hundere Chair of Religion and Culture in the Philosophy Department of Oregon State University, www.marcusjborg.com
- Saturday morning, February 5th at 9:00 a.m. More from Marcus + a special forum by the participating artists discussing the interplay of the spiritual within their work
- Saturday afternoon, February 5th at 1:00 p.m. A Borg lecture on divine mysticism through the ages followed by breakout sessions at 2:30 p.m. with the individual artists each reflecting on the sacred spark manifested in their art
- Saturday evening, February 5th at 7:00 p.m. An area benefit and time to let our hair down with live music, light foodstuffs and a cash bar to kick up our heels and get to know other participants (subject to an additional cover charge)
- Sunday morning, February 6th at 9:30 a.m. A culminating creative ecumenical worship service to help codify the Lovefest encounter
